Oceaneering Patent Analyst P5-II in Chandigarh, India

Surveys Prior Art in the industry or the specific product domain for possible IP conflicts. Assists in development of New Product Developement Business Cases through Patent Research/Assessments and Market Study. Maintains database of all Company owned patents and work towards upkeep of the same. Works independently as well as mentor other Product Development Engineers.
Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct prior art searches, technology landscapes, competitive analysis, licensing studies, evidence of use studies
Evaluate customer inquiries for patent research/assessment and works towards the close out of the task
Benchmark competitor’s products of the relevant segment with reference to claims in the patents.
Study subsea oil & gas market patents to identify new ideas for business case development.
Supports in establishment of the functional design specification for new products through literature survey of patents, market study of available competitor products
Explore information available from all sources, including journals, online published content, subscribed newsletters etc. Conduct literature survey, Patent landscape analysis etc.
Understand and comply with the established project management processes and contribute to improvement the same.
Stays informed about the latest technologies and business solutions for protecting intellectual property
Reviews for compliance with Non - Disclosure Agreements and approve all draft papers or reports of partner organizations before publish in public domain.
Identifies the ways that management can preserve and protect Company intellectual property rights (copyrights, patents, trade secrets, trademarks, service marks, etc.) and handles relevant paperwork as necessary
Provide assistance in monitoring the information available on the Internet, as well as through other public sources, to ensure that no unauthorized use of Company intellectual property is taking place
Communicate regular progress updates to customer
Participate in design reviews with internal and external customer
Resolve queries raised by customers or third party reviewers and assist in design approval process
Demonstrates high level of initiative to accomplish individual objectives assigned as well as team goals
Provide technical guidance on areas of expertise to other team members, act as an SME
Can lead/guide/mentor a team on a specific task/project
Should be open to travel as per business needs
Work towards individual goals aligned with department and organizational objectives
Comply to organizational HR policies and procedures
Understand and adhere to organizational HSE policies and practices
Education & Experience
Post Graduation (Master degree) in Intellectual Property Management, OR
Graduation (Bachelor degree) in Mechanical Engineering with minimum two years of relevant industry patent research experience
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
