Oceaneering Electrial Design Engineer in Houston, Texas

Electrical Design Engineers are responsible for component design, analysis, and test, as well as integration support at higher levels of assembly. The electrical engineer is responsible for electrical design tasks including schematic production, subsequent design layout, circuit analysis, production support, testing, troubleshooting, corrective actions, and preparation for customer buy-off. The work is in direct support of NASA and includes ground prototypes as well as flight certified equipment to be used in low-earth orbit, deep space, and in planetary space missions.

Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for design, analysis, production, testing, certification, and delivery of space-flight electrical elements. Example disciplines include board layout, FPGA and embedded programming, BLDC and Stepper motor control, valve control, sensor interfaces and integration, LVDS data communications, and power electronics.
A Bachelors of Science degree in an electrical engineering field.
Hands-on experience in the design, analysis, production, and testing of digital and analog circuits is required.
Knowledge of electrical design software tools is essential: Altium and SVN version control for design collaboration, SPICE, and Lab view.
Knowledge and experience with laboratory test equipment is also essential including logic, spectrum, and power analyzers, Oscilloscopes, signal generators, and emulators for processors/microcontrollers.
This position requires a broad electrical engineering background and good written and verbal communication skills.
Designers should be familiar with the space radiation environment, electromagnetic environment, physical launch environments, and thermal heat dissipation at ambient and vacuum conditions.
Knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility analysis and testing and aerospace/ government requirements and guidelines.
This position is considered OFFICE WORK which is characterized as follows.
- Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night
- Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the work place
- Work surface is stable (flat)
